Chief Technical Officer (Salary: $180,000-$220,000)
The Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association (PNWH2) is looking for a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to support the Association’s President. This is a great opportunity to establish working relationships with high-level executives and contribute to the overall efficiency of our organization, and our vision for a clean hydrogen ecosystem across the Pacific Northwest.
The Chief Technical Officer is expected to provide expert knowledge and guidance in business, state and federal policy, clean energy and technologies. This often involves reviewing reports, research materials, or other documents for technical accuracy. The CTO may be asked to consult in general business operations that involve material of a highly technical or scientific nature. Often providing verification or fact-checking services to the President of the Association. Our CTO will serve as subject matter experts to assist with guiding our internal staff, project management organization, contractors, and project leads. Interaction with external contacts such as businesses, state and federal legislators, local governments, elected officials, as well as our project partners, their customers, contractors and vendors, will be a daily occurrence. This position provides backup to the President of the organization as needed, and for speaking engagements when the President is unable to attend as well as information and guidance to all our staff, stakeholders, projects, and contractors.

Chief Technical Officer to President:
- Research and Innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in operational practices.
- Lead strategy and ensure the Association’s Vision, and Objectives are being met on a daily basis.
- Act as a liaison for the President, for all staff/contractors and subrecipients, to relay voice of customer (VOC) and drive continuous improvement.
- Handle incoming questions from our customers, stakeholders, project representatives, Board members, and government officials providing them with prompt, accurate answers.
- Provide efficient support on incoming communication challenges.
- Participate, and represent the organization as needed, in outside associations, conferences, and symposia.
- Provide technical and strategic guidance to projects and initiatives including oversight and management of projects and activities.
- Co design, lead and, as appropriate, participate in in or out-of-country technical assistance assignments and producing high quality deliverables.
- Grow a portfolio by identifying and fostering key client relationships, develop concept notes and pitches, and lead the development process.
- Provide world-class service and support to all internal and external customers.
- Identify and handle customer concerns, utilizing cross-functional relationships to negotiate ‘outcome where everybody wins’ solutions.
- Submit leads to CHARGE for business development opportunities for our projects.
- Be successful through mentoring and leading within the department.
- Identify and handle project issues and utilize cross-functional relationships to find solutions.
- Identify and promote innovative scalable supply chain solutions that improve product availability for customers.
- Assess problems with project execution, as they relate to production, machinery/equipment, supply chain, storage, transmission, etc., and identify root cause(s).
- Regularly review and contribute to program reporting and data analysis, including preparation and dissemination of scientific publications, and engage as needed with project managers in program modifications, problem solving and discussions.
- Ensure awareness of any key state or federal requirements as they relate to the Hydrogen ecosystem.
- Understand tax implications both positive and negative as they relate to the Hydrogen ecosystem.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in business, engineering, science, public administration, or equivalent experience.
- Every two years of experience directly related to the duties of the job, can substitute for every one year of required education. Additionally, prior experience as a consultant, small business owner, and non-profit executive experience, may substitute year for year for the educational requirement.
- Strong leadership skill and the ability to show proven collaboration.
- Strong critical thinking and decision making skills.
- Dedicated to continuous improvement.
- Familiar with pattern recognition and information dissemination.
- Able to provide technical assistance to clients and strengthen relationships.
- The successful candidate will be collaborative, seeking win/win solutions, work as a team leader, be able to set strategy as well as roll-up his/her sleeves to support strategy implementation.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Travel will be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.

Executive Assistant to Association President:
- Providing administrative assistance, such as writing and editing e-mails, drafting memos, and preparing communications on the executive’s behalf
- Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records
- Performing minor accounting duties
- Organizing meetings, including scheduling, sending reminders, and organizing catering when necessary
- Answering phone calls in a polite and professional manner
- Managing the executive’s calendar, including making appointments and prioritizing the most sensitive matters
- Administrative Support: Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness, communication, and safety.
- Travel logistics and organization of reimbursements as needed.
- Project Coordination: Use tools to monitor project timelines and deliverables, ensuring all tasks are on schedule.
- Operational Support: Assist in daily operational reviews and performance monitoring, identifying areas for improvement.
- Communication Management: Handle internal communications, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of information.
- Meeting and Event Coordination: Schedule and organize meetings and team events, including preparing agendas, booking venues, coordinating catering, and managing logistics. Follow up on action items from meetings.
- Document Management: Prepare and manage documentation, including reports, presentations, and other essential forms of communication.
- Process Optimization: Suggest and implement improvements to internal processes to increase efficiency across our operations, alongside the operations director.
Qualifications:
- 8 years Executive Assistant or similar administrative supervisor/manager role.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload of self and others.
- Experience with calendaring for Executives.
- High degree of attention to detail and discretion.
- Proven travel scheduling, organization and reimbursement experience.
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated experience in supervising employees with outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills required.
- Proven ability to communicate up and down the organization effectively with exceptional verbal and written skills.
- Must be a quick learner who can pick up the working knowledge of new information to make decisions and recommendations.
