Node 6 - Boardman, Oregon

MHI Hydrogen Infrastructure LLC (MHI H2I), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Power Americas, plans to construct and operate a new electrolysis hydrogen production plant near Boardman to produce clean hydrogen from surplus renewable energy. It also plans to construct a new hydrogen-capable power plant nearby to provide dispatchable clean electricity during peak demand periods.

Portland General Electric (PGE) will assist in permitting and design of project interfaces and provide necessary consultation and planning for other aspects of the project in Boardman. PGE is in discussions with partners regarding use of PGE’s former coal plant located in Boardman, supplying renewable energy and water feedstocks, and providing electrical interconnections.

Williams plans to design, install, operate, and own a proposed ~20-mile underground pipeline from the Boardman site to the Air Liquide project site near Port of Morrow, Oregon. The pipeline will have a hydrogen storage capacity of at least 175 metric tons and capability of transporting at least 350 metric tons per day of gaseous hydrogen.
