News: PNWH2 Announces Alan Krause as Chair and April Sims as Vice Chair of its Board of Directors

The Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association is pleased to announce Alan Krause as Chair and April Sims as Vice Chair of its Board of Directors for the term of August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026.

Alan Krause brings over 45 years of experience in energy and water infrastructure development to his new position of Chairman. Previously serving as a general board member for the PNWH2 Hub, Alan’s senior expertise on global renewable energy investments was crucial to helping navigate the start of Phase 1 and strategically positions the Hub as it prepares for Phase 2 in the coming months.  

Alan has served as Chairman, CEO and President of MWH Global and, after merging with Stantec, as Global President. During his career, Alan has focused on the natural resource and water infrastructure sector and has extensive experience with global projects involving hydropower, pumped storage, geothermal and wind generation and baseload.

He holds an M.S. in Geological Engineering from the University of Nevada Mackay School of Mines and completed the three-year Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Photo of April Sims, Washington State Labor CouncilIn her new position as Vice Chairwoman, April Sims brings over 20 years of labor expertise and is currently serving a four-year elected term as President of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO. Previously on the PNWH2 Board of Directors as a general member and labor representative, April’s extensive experience with labor unions will guide the PNWH2 Hub’s major efforts around labor and workforce development as the Hub continues to build out these areas.

April is the first woman to be elected WSLC president, and the first Black woman elected to the presidency of an AFL-CIO state federation. As President, April is the chief executive officer of the council, supervises all of its activities and staff, and leads Washington’s largest union organization representing more than half a million union members.
